Do you experience pain, tension, or tightness in your back, hips, and/or neck and shoulders?

Do you want to improve your mobility, and feel stronger and more confident in your body so you can continue to do the activities you enjoy as you age?

What is the core?

The core encompasses many layers of muscles and consists of the muscles surrounding the trunk including your deep and superficial abdominals, obliques, diaphragm, pelvic floor, spine, and hips. These muscles work together as a system to support, align, and move your body. They are involved in everything you do.

The deep core is the foundation of movement. When the deep core isn’t functioning well, it affects the whole body.

This is a small group workshop style series designed to teach you the basics of how to build supple strength and stability from the inside out by focusing on restoring the deep core. Although the class emphasizes the deep core, we will address the whole body. In addition to the back, hips, and pelvic floor, we will explore the upper body in an effort to develop balance and enhance posture while alleviating tension and stiffness.

Join us to deepen your understanding of the core and relationship between the pelvic floor, hips, back and posture. We’ll discuss common misconceptions about how to strengthen the core and you’ll learn how to awaken your deep core, realign your body, and refine the way you move. The small group format allows you an opportunity to ask questions and learn personalized modifications specific to your body. Each class will include movement and discussion.

In this series, you’ll:

  • Assess and identify your breathing, movement, and posture habits that contribute to imbalances, core weakness, and stress
  • Learn how to properly activate, stretch, and release the core/pelvic floor muscles and surrounding muscles of the shoulders, hips and back
  • Learn how to move from your core more efficiently and with greater control, stability, and freedom
  • Discover new patterns of movement to support, align, and balance your whole body
  • Improve core awareness, connection, posture, and function in daily activities
  • Enhance mobility and quality of life

This series will include core stability sequences, breathing and stretching techniques, and restorative yoga poses to help you break free from nagging pain and tension and experience ease of movement. My style of teaching blends methods of movement including yoga, pilates, functional training, and therapeutic exercise.
