This morning during my meditation/prayer time, the quote by Gandhi emerged in my mind, “Be the Change You Wish to See in the World.” In that moment, I was reminded I have a choice each moment and each day to be how I wish to be.
I asked myself the questions, “What change do I wish see? How do I wish to be? How do I want to show up today?”
While I can’t change others or what is happening around the world, I can consciously choose to forgive, love and reach out to others. I can pause and choose to be the change I wish to see in the world. I can respond to life in a way that aligns with what matters most to me.
Sometimes I simply forget. This is why I value the gift of a pause in the morning and throughout the day.
A pause is an opportunity to tune into our hearts, become centered and grounded in a deeper sense of meaning and purpose, and choose how we want to ‘be’.
A pause is time to tune-out the noisiness in life. It is a time to let go of labels, judgements, and expectations. It is a time to arrive in the present moment. It is a time to connect to what matters most.
Cultivating what we wish to see in the world starts within us. Who we are BEcoming is more important than what we are accomplishing.
In the midst of the political, social and spiritual challenges in the world, I truly believe we all need to give ourselves the gift of a pause.
I invite you to pay attention to what is happening within you in this very moment. Get a sense of your body sitting here breathing all on its own. Take a moment to feel your body breathe in and breathe out. Listen to the natural rhythm of your breath. Observe your chest rising and falling; your belly rising and falling. Notice the physical sensations in your body, the activity of your mind and the condition of your heart.
You might notice you feel a sense of release or you might feel skeptical about the idea of a pause. Acknowledge what is arising within you.
Pause. Listen. Observe.
This is a wonderful practice to integrate into your day.
What change do you wish to see in the world?
If being the change you wish to see in the world were a priority, what one thing could you do today to make a difference?
When we receive the gift of a pause: moments of clarity occur, we can give more freely and openly, we can respond to life in a new meaningful way, we can choose to be the change we wish to see.
This time could be a moment, 20 minutes, a whole day, a weekend or a week. We all need time for renewal and to receive the gift of a pause to reconnect to what matters most.
What We Do Matters!
Wishing you well,
